Safe Kids San Diego and Rady Children’s to Host a Injury Prevention Workshop

WHAT: Rady Children’s and Safe Kids San Diego have launched a campaign to focus on injury prevention in San Diego County. The campaign focuses on four areas which are critical to keeping young athletes healthy and injury-free:

• Preventing acute and overuse injuries
• Proper hydration before, during and after play
• Annual pre-participation physical evaluation prior to play
• Concussion awareness, prevention and screening methods

On Saturday, April 23, from 8:30 a.m. to Noon, Rady Children’s Sports Medicine Specialists, Eric Edmonds, M.D., and Andrew Pennock, M.D., will hold a 3-hour workshop on Sports Injury Prevention for Coaches and Parents. The event will take place at the Toby Wells YMCA in Kearny Mesa. Every year in the United States, 3.5 million injuries occur while children are involved in youth sports. This event is free and open to the public.
