Rady Children's Hospital San Diego

Awards

We’re proud to share some of the ways Rady Children’s has been recognized -- throughout the state and around the country. These honors are important for one reason only: They demonstrate our commitment in doing what's right for kids.

America's Best Children's Hospitals

In its comprehensive survey (2010-2011) to identify the top children’s hospitals in the country in 10 pediatric specialties, U.S. News & World Report ranks Rady Children’s in the following five specialties:

With more than 200 children’s hospitals in the United States, the top rankings place Rady Children’s among the nation’s elite.

Mental Health Award

In recognition of Rady Children’s comprehensive behavioral health services, President and CEO Kathleen Sellick received the Leadership in Action Award from Mental Health America of San Diego County on May 4, 2010. Mental Health America of San Diego County was founded in 1942 as the first mental health advocacy organization in San Diego County. Its mission is to promote mental health, to prevent mental disorders, and to achieve victory over mental illness through advocacy, education, research and service.

National Recognition

Parents Magazine Ranks Rady Children’s Among Top Children’s Hospitals in the Nation (2009). In addition to our Hospital ranking in the top 25 overall, our Orthopedics department earned top honors, ranking number six in the country. Rady Children’s was one of only three West Coast hospitals in the United States in the top 30.

Rady Children’s Bernardy Center Earns Top Honors from U.S. News and World Report (2009). The Helen M. Bernardy Center for Medically Fragile Children at Rady Children’s was rated one of the Best Nursing Homes by U.S. News & World Report out of more than 15,000 facilities in the nation. The tribute comes on the heels of the Bernardy Center’s five-star rating from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid, an extremely prestigious honor. Only facilities with perfect five-star ratings earned a place in the Honor Roll in U.S. News and World Report.

National Accreditation

Rady Children’s receives full accreditation by the National Accreditation Commission for the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). This makes Rady Children’s a freestanding ACPE center that can offer Level 1, Level 2 and Supervisory Clinical Pastoral Education. Only 10 other children’s hospitals nationwide can make this claim.

Children’s Primary Care Medical Group (CPCMG) achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).  Only about 3,600 ambulatory healthcare
organizations across the United States are accredited by the AAAHC. CPCMG provides superior pediatric primary care services to approximately 162,000 patients and families.

The Top & Best Physicians

Congratulation to the 74 Rady Children’s-affiliated physicians honored as Top Docs in San Diego Magazine (2009). Each year, the San Diego County Medical Society asks board-certified doctors to whom they would refer their patients and family members. That means that making the list is really high praise – physicians who are highly trusted and respected by their peers.

Best Doctors, Inc. has recognized 102 Rady Children's-affiliated physicians as Best Doctors (2009) in their physician-to-physician survey. Best Doctors identifies specialists who are considered by fellow physicians to be the most skilled in their fields and most qualified for reviewing and treating complex medical conditions. There's nothing more reassuring than knowing that our patients and families have access to some of the best doctors in the country!

Orthopedics Earns Top Honors ... Again!

Rady Children's Orthopedic Services ranks #4 for the second year in a row in U.S. News & World Report's survey of top children's hospitals.
