The Story Behind the Words

rise above was inspired by the father of one of our patients. His child had been at Rady Children's often and, one afternoon while sitting in the waiting room as his child was in surgery, he thought about our Rady Children's kite -- and how everyone here was rising above, doing everything in their powers to help our patients and their families.

We believe in the power of that father's experience. Those simple words attest to the power of a healing environment, reflect the passion of truly dedicated people and challenge the community to give selflessly.
