Healthcare Students
Training Programs at Rady Children's:
Physicians
Registered Nurses
We encourage students interested in pediatric nursing to do their senior elective/clinical synthesis at Rady Children's. Students must work with their clinical instructor to arrange placement. The number of placements is limited. San Diego State University, Point Loma College, Grossmont College, University of San Diego, San Diego City College, Southwestern Community College and National University all place students at Rady Children's for their pediatric experience.
Student nurses who have completed their pediatric rotations can also consider employment opportunities as either a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) and/or Nurse Extern. Both of these positions can be a great asset to the student nurse who would like to later be considered for our New Grad RN Residency.
PCA opportunities are normally available throughout the year. Please consider www.RCHSD.org/NursingAidJobs to see if we have any currently available.
Nurse Externships opportunities are posted approximately two months before the semester that the externship would correspond. (Summer semester posting is in the beginning of April; fall session posting is in the beginning of July; winter session posting is in the beginning of November.) Please visit www.RCHSD.org/RNJobs to see if we have externships currently available. Additionally, please note that it is often the current student nurses already employed as PCAs who are considered first as our Nurse Externs.
If we currently do not have PCA or Nurse Externships available, you can sign up to be e-mailed when future jobs are posted by using our Job Agent tool located at www.RCHSD.org/Careers.
