Internships
Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego believes that to effectively serve our community, we must educate and train the next generation of healthcare workers. In order to deliver on this commitment, Rady Children’s has developed the following programs:
Education-Affiliation Internships
Program Type: Unpaid internship dependent on an education agreement with a school. (Example: RN students, Respiratory Therapy students, etc.)
- Provide students an overview of the services and operations in a specific healthcare department
Program Eligibility:
- Full-time college student 18 years or older
- Current Education-Affiliation Agreement on file
- Good academic standing
To qualify for an Education-Affiliation Internship, please work with your school/institution.
Seasonal Nursing Internships
Program Type: Paid per diem internship for employment services rendered.
- Provides connections between education and real life practice
- Opportunity for clinical students between their junior and senior years to participate in a work experience
Program Eligibility:
- Full-time or part-time college RN student 18 years or older
- Current Education Affiliation Agreement on file
- Good academic standing (minimum 3.0 GPA)
- Enrolled in an internship course through a participating college or university
- Completion of junior year at time of program start

Graduate Internships
Program Type: Paid benefit-eligible internship for employment services rendered
- Provides graduate students and recent graduates with knowledge and exposure to a wide range of RCHSD operations
- Intense, full-time rotation in a variety of departments and programs
- Provides mentoring and one-on-one interaction with senior-level executives
Program Eligibility:
- Completions of one year, or recent graduate of, a master’s program from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Summer or full-year program
- Current Education-Affiliation Agreement on file

College Student Internships
Program Type: Unpaid internship for college students whose school does not have an education agreement with school
- Provides an opportunity to explore a healthcare career during school breaks (generally summer, but can extend to other times of the year.)
- Provides mentoring and project-based learning opportunities
Program Eligibility:
- Full or part-time college student 18 years or older
- Good academic standing
