New Employee Orientation
Reminder: You are not to attend the following orientations until your hiring lead has notified you of your clearance to start work.
As a new team member of Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, you are required to attend New Employee Orientation. These sessions will provide you with valuable information about Rady Children’s and satisfy your Joint Commission orientation attendance requirements.
A series of New Employee Orientation sessions begins every other Monday.
Location: Rady Children’s Plaza, Suite 160. Rady Children’s Plaza is where Human Resources is located; it is a five-story brick building located at 3665 Kearny Villa Rd, just down the street from the Hospital’s main campus.
Parking: Parking is available behind the Plaza at the National University parking structure at no charge.
When does class start?
- 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Rady Children's New Employee Orientation
Important Reminders
- Monday of New Employee Orientation starts at 7:15 or 8 a.m. and ends by 4:30 p.m.
- Morning refreshments are provided.
- Dress in layers – room temperatures vary.
- Dress comfortably, but no open-toed shoes or other violations of the Hospital appearance policy.
- Lunch can be purchased from the deli in the Plaza. You are welcome to bring your lunch; there is a refrigerator available near the orientation classroom.
- The last session of the day is your Benefits Orientation. If you are not planning to sign up for elective benefits, you will be finished before 4:30 p.m.
- Please plan to arrive 15-20 minutes early to accommodate time for parking and refreshments.
Computer Orientation (Day 2: for all roles except RNs, Respiratory Therapists (RTs), and LVNs)
During class on Monday, you will sign up for a two-hour computer training on campus that will be held the following day, Tuesday, at either 8 to 10 a.m. or 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Days 2 and 3: Clinical Focus for RNs, RTs and LVNs
For RNs, RTs, and LVNs, your second and third days of orientation will take place from 8:15 a.m.- 5 p.m. in the Plaza, Suite 160. Please bring reading glasses, if needed, and a calculator. You will complete two competencies on these days: Blood Product Administration and Medication Administration. You will also attend a skills lab and computer training, in addition to several lectures with content critical to your success as a new clinician at Rady Children's.
Department-Specific Orientation
You will also receive department orientation specific to your area and job responsibilities. This will be scheduled with your department leader.
