Research

The Rady Children’s Research Center includes the Projects Office, the Institutional Review Board, the Office for Grants and Contracts and the Center for Pediatric Clinical Research.

The Projects Office monitors the flow of projects through the organization and ensures that all projects receive administrative, scientific and appropriate ethical reviews. This group also evaluates projects for feasibility of implementation and monitors compliance with research policies and procedures.

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is responsible for the protection of human subjects involved in research activities conducted by Rady Children’s investigators. The IRB is registered with the federal government Office for Human Research Protection (OHRP) and meets regularly to review research studies and oversee research activities to ensure the protection of the rights and welfare of all subjects.

The Office of Grants and Contracts assists investigators with application submissions to funding agencies, as well as providing guidance and oversight of post-award expenditures. In addition to being the official contracting entity for all research projects conducted within the Center, this group is also responsible for ensuring compliance with grants administration policy and procedures.

The Center for Pediatric Clinical Research is a newly formed organization combining the strengths of our clinical scientists and the infrastructure of Rady Children’s. The Center for Pediatric Clinical Research oversees and conducts more than 200 clinical trials every year investigating new drugs, devices and techniques, all with the aim of improving the care of children.
