Team
Three board-certified developmental-behavioral specialists lead the evaluation team, all of whom are faculty members at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. As we recognize the importance of teaching child development and behavior to physicians-in-training, our team also includes pediatric fellows and residents, child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, and medical students.
Dr. Liu’s expertise is the evaluation and management of children with ADHD, autistic spectrum disorders, anxiety, depression, mental retardation, and developmental delays. She has extensive experience collaborating with other developmental services, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.
Dr. Gahagan has a special interest in early childhood development. Her areas of focus include autism spectrum disorders, complications of prematurity, and fetal alcohol syndrome, with particular expertise in infant and toddler regulation disorders (including sleep problems), difficult feeding, excessive crying and tantrums, and attachment disorders.
Dr. Stein's expertise is the evaluation and management of children with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and autistic spectrum disorders. He has worked to develop methods that primary care pediatricians can use to adapt the knowledge and skills of developmental and behavioral pediatricians into their daily practice.
