Cystic Fibrosis/ Gastroenterology Clinic
Rady Children’s is a recognized pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center. To provide better care to our CF patients, a combined Cystic Fibrosis/Gastroenterology Clinic was started in 2009 by Mary Abigail Garcia, M.D., (GI) and Mark Pian, M.D. (Pulmonary).
As most patients with CF experience pancreatic insufficiency and several have CF-related liver disease, constipation, failure to thrive, abdominal pain, and distal intestinal obstruction syndrome, this clinic is an important step to providing well-rounded care to CF patients. This multidisciplinary clinic involves gastroenterology, pulmonology, nutrition, respiratory therapy, social work and CF nursing care.
