Infectious Diseases

Specializing in the prevention, diagnosis and management of infectious diseases.

Research and Clinical Trials

The Division conducts clinical trials on new anti-infective agents and vaccines for children. Antibiotic resistance for invasive MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is another critical area of study.

The goal of our research is to determine the efficacy and safety of new treatments before they are routinely used. New tests are also studied to improve the speed and accuracy of diagnosing infections. The Division regularly collaborates on research initiatives with physicians from UC San Diego and other specialists and pediatricians in the community.

For detailed information on research activities of our team members, visit the UC San Diego Department of Pediatrics website.
