Speech-Language Pathology

Gestures with Babies

Gestures with Babies is a parent and child group that helps to increase communication between parent and child.

Parents and children often become frustrated when communication breaks down.  In Gestures with Babies, a speech pathologist shows how to use simple gestures/signs to encourage language development and improve parent/child communication.

There are two 1-1.5-hour group sessions (the first session is with the parent only; the second session is with the parent and child), and class size is limited for maximal group learning and sharing between parents and professionals.

What will I learn?

  • How to recognize typical milestones of language development.
  • How using Baby Signs can improve your child's language skills.
  • How to teach your child Baby Signs.
  • How to recognize when your child is making progress with language milestones.
