Early Intervention 0-5

Early intervention is a process by which a child is exposed to services and programs to help improve development before the age of 5. Ideally, intervention should begin as early as possible.

Early intervention main points:

  • Oral-motor, gross-motor and fine-motor skills
  • Behavior and attention

  • Family dynamics: death, divorce and grief cycles
  • Cultural considerations in regard to language

Ways to facilitate development:

  • Talk to your child
  • Invite other children
  • Provide organized activity to promote language
  • Read to your child
  • Play with your child
  • Create a story together (writing, drawing and talking)
  • Flannel Board activities
