Ken Taylor, M.D.
Dr. Ken Taylor is a primary care physician with fellowship training and certification as a specialist in sports medicine. He practices both family medicine and sports medicine. Dr. Taylor is also Director of the UC San Diego Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship and is involved in clinical research trials related to sports medicine.
Among his professional activities, Dr. Taylor is Co-Team Physician for the San Diego professional indoor soccer franchise, the Sockers, Head Team Physician for UC San Diego Intercollegiate and Club Athletics, and Medical Director for the International Surfing Association, developing medical protocols and providing event coverage at the World Surfing Games in such locations as Tahiti, Portugal and Costa Rica.
The key to making a difference in his patients' lives, he believes, is getting to know them: "Understanding a person's needs goes beyond just providing medical care."
Athletics have been part of Ken's life since he was a boy. He was a multisport athlete in high school, played college soccer at UC San Diego and surfed in the UC San Diego Cancer Center Luau Surfing Invitational. He enjoys many activities -- including soccer, surfing, tennis, triathlons, cycling, running, strength training and hiking/backpacking -- and has two young sports buddies, sons Griffin and Gavin.
