Clinical Trials
A clinical trial is a strictly controlled human research study that evaluates new treatments or new and different ways of using known treatments. Depending on the diagnosis, a clinical trial might be the safest and fastest way to find treatments that work.
Before enrolling your child in a research study, you may want to talk to his or her physician about potential benefits and possible risks. A clinical trial is just one of many treatment options available at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego.
More than 170 clinical trials are underway at Rady Children’s, many of which are listed on ClinicalTrials.gov, a database of the National Institutes of Health.
