We understand that having a hospitalized child can be difficult. That's why we've adopted a philosophy of family-centered care.
The Parent Center
The Parent Center, on the Sun Level of the Nelson Family Pavilion (between the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and the Ortho/Rehab unit) is a quiet resting place for parents and other adult family members. Showers, places to sleep, small lockers, a microwave and a refrigerator are all located here. The center is open 24 hours a day, but is reserved for parents only after 8 p.m. As a courtesy to other parents, please do not bring children into the center. Families with children are invited to go to the Nelson Family Pavilion playground.
Showers
Showers are located in the following areas:
- The Parent Center
- Near the service elevators on the Sun Level of the Rose Pavilion
- In the Ernest Hahn Critical Care Center (South)
Laundry Facilities
Laundry facilities are available at the Ronald McDonald House. To reserve a machine, call (858) 292-7413. You may ask an Ambassador for detergent.
Mailboxes
Mailboxes are located at the main entrances of both the Nelson Family Pavilion and the Rose Pavilion. Stamps are sold in the gift shop.
Newspapers
Newspapers can be purchased from the machines at the main entrances of both the Nelson Family Pavilion and the Rose Pavilion.
ATM
An ATM is located in the Cafe in the Hahn Pavilion. A second ATM is available in the Rose Pavilion, just past the Gift Shop near McDonald's.
Outpatient Pharmacy
The Outpatient Pharmacy is a full-service pharmacy located on the first floor of the Medical Office Building. The pharmacy accepts most insurance for prescriptions. It also stocks over-the-counter medications, magazines and books. The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
