Rady Children's Hospital San Diego

Visiting Guidelines

  • Parents are welcome 24 hours a day
  • Our policy is that other family members and friends of any age may visit from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., pending infection control parameters.  Our primary concern is our patients.
  •  Anyone who is sick with a cough, cold or other contagious illness is asked not to visit.

Identification Badges

We give parents or legal guardians wristbands when their child is admitted. Please wear your wristband at all times. It lets our staff know that you can be in the Hospital after 8 p.m.

All visitors must check in at the Information Desk each time they come to the Hospital. Visitors must wear a visitor sticker at all times.

Visiting Restrictions

We ask that you limit the number of visitors present at one time. We can better care for your child and our other patients if visitors do not crowd the room.

During the flu season, ONLY parents of patients are allowed to visit.

After-hours Access

We lock most Hospital doors each night at 6 p.m. At 8 p.m., we also lock the Nelson Family Pavilion and the Rose Pavilion main entrances. Between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., you may enter through the Sam S. and Rose Stein Emergency Care Center (located at the Rose Pavilion).
