Former Heart Patient Attempts to Break World Record During Heart Month

WHAT: Former heart patients Max Hammerstrom and Jake Cook, who both underwent open-heart surgeries and at early age, are hoping to raise awareness about congenital heart defects during American Heart Month. On Saturday February 4th from 10 a.m. to noon, the boys will set up a lemonade stand and register runners and walkers for their 5th annual Max and Jake’s Big Race later in the month. Max will also attempt to break the world record for the most t-shirts worn at one time, which stands at 247, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Max and Jake’s Big Race is on February 28th. Proceeds will benefit the Heart Institute at Rady Children’s.
