Hundreds of Volunteers Participated in Annual Kids’ NewsDay Event

Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, U-T San Diego and NBC 7 San Diego partnered once again for the 24th Annual U-T Kids’ NewsDay on October 22, 2013.  More than 1800 volunteers, in yellow aprons, took over street corners and busy intersections and local Starbucks in San Diego County selling the $ 1 special edition newspapers.

San Diego Chargers players and team cheerleaders also participated at Friars and Frazee Roads in Mission Valley collecting donations from drivers. Every dollar raised goes directly to Rady Children’s to help sick and injured children. Kids’ NewsDay reports on the advances being made and the lives being changed at Rady Children’s.

In 2012, the event helped raise more than $118,000 and more than 43,000 special edition newspapers were sold. Every paper included a $1 off coupon at Starbucks. You can make a $5 donation by texting today R-A-D-Y to 90999.
