Dr. George Liu is chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and a professor of pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine.

Dr. Liu divides his time between clinical care, research and administrative duties. His research focuses on understanding basic interactions between methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and the host immune system, with an aim to discover novel vaccine approaches to combat antimicrobial resistance.

Prior to joining Rady Children's, he was a professor of pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Dr. Liu completed his fellowship training in pediatric infectious diseases at Rady Children's. He earned his medical degree from UC San Diego School of Medicine and his doctorate from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom).
