Dr. Kenneth Jones is an attending physician in the Endocrinology Division at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and an emeritus professor of pediatrics at UC San Diego. He is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology.

Dr. Jones received his medical education from Duke University, graduating as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in 1964. He did his pediatric internship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and, after two years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, returned to Johns Hopkins to complete his residency, serving as chief resident.

After coming to the UC San Diego Biology Department in 1970 to conduct research, Dr. Jones joined the faculty in 1972. Rising through the academic ranks to become a professor of pediatrics, he founded the Pediatric Endocrinology Department at UC San Diego and remains a participating member.He began seeing patients at Children's Hospital (now Rady Children's) in 1970.

Dr. Jones became chair of the UC San Diego Pediatrics Department in 2000 and was critical to the 2001 merger of his department and Children's Hospital, serving as the first physician-in-chief of the joint program at Children's Hospital. He stepped down in 2005 and spent a sabbatical year at Cambridge University in the U.K. Dr. Jones remains clinically active at Rady Children's and teaches students, residents and fellows. He has authored or co-authored research papers, reviews and book chapters.
