Dr. Lawrence (Lance) S. Prince, a board-certified pediatrician and neonatal-perinatal medicine specialist, is the division chief of neonatology at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and UC San Diego. He is also a professor of pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine.

Dr. Prince's clinical interests are managing and treating neonatal lung diseases, especially bronchopulmonary dysplasia in babies born extremely premature. His research interests include the molecular and cellular mechanisms controlling lung development and the maturation of the fetal and neonatal immune systems. As part of collaborations with other investigators at UC San Diego, Dr. Prince's research team is developing new strategies for preventing lung injury and promoting lung regeneration and growth.

Prior to joining Rady Children's and the UC San Diego faculty, Dr. Prince was an associate professor of pediatrics and cell and developmental biology at Vanderbilt University. He completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Iowa, earned his medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Miami.
