Acute Injury Clinic (Broken bones and dislocations)
Under the direction of our orthopedic surgery specialists, our 12 specially trained pediatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants, along with highly skilled orthopedic (casting) technicians and our radiology technicians, provide assessment and treatment of common childhood fractures.
This may include casting, splinting or bracing. Not all children seen in this clinic will have a broken bone, but it is suspected that they might. As a result, you should expect that your child will have an X-ray and casting during the visit. Families who had X-rays at a non-Rady Children’s facility are asked to bring those studies to their appointment on a CD. The images will be loaded into our digital system for review during the appointment. Injuries requiring surgery will be referred to one of our orthopedic surgeons for subsequent treatment and care.
Treatment of fractures is provided at our Main Campus and Escondido locations on every weekday by appointment. To schedule an appointment, call 858-966-6789.
