The Toenail Clinic treats patients with recurrent, painful ingrown toenails.
Under the direction of our orthopedic surgery specialists, trained nurse practitioners evaluate and provide either conservative management and/or surgical removal/ablation of the problematic border (part) of the toenail. When partial removal is indicated by examination, it is an in-clinic procedure using local, injected numbing medication. Partial removal might not occur at your first visit due to insurance requirements. Some patients requiring this procedure (particularly those under 10 years of age or those with behavioral problems) will be assessed at the first visit for consideration of the in-clinic procedure versus a day surgery procedure with one of the orthopedic surgeons.
The Toenail Clinic is available weekly at the Main campus by appointment. To schedule an appointment, call 858-966-6789.
Please note that patients with painful toenail fungus are seen by our Dermatology division.
