Outpatient Psychiatry: Torrey Hills
Rady Children’s satellite facility in Torrey Hills provides outpatient behavioral health services for privately insured and self-pay patients.
A full range of services are provided for conditions including depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorders, behavior problems, psychosis and eating disorders. These services consist of diagnostic evaluations, individual therapy, family therapy, parent education, medication evaluations and treatment, and psychological testing.
Nicholas Chan, M.D., is a child & adolescent psychiatrist who received his medical degree from the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey and completed a fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with a broad range of emotional and behavioral difficulties, including obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety, autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
Dr. Chan has particular expertise in using a family-centered approach to address issues that can affect not only the child/adolescent, but the family as a whole. By looking at multiple factors that may be affecting a child/adolescent, he is able to identify the best course of treatment, whether it be therapy alone or in combination with medications.
Katherine Williams, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in child and adolescent therapy as well as neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescents and young adults. She earned her bachelor’s degree at UC San Diego, her master’s degree at Pepperdine University and her doctoral degree at Loma Linda University.
Along with being an associate clinical professor in the UC San Diego School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, Dr. Williams directs the Anxiety & OCD Clinic (AOC) at Rady Children’s and was recently named the director of strategic development and clinical innovations in Rady Children’s Outpatient Psychiatry.
Dr. Williams completed her post-doctoral clinical training at Harbor-UCLA Child & Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry, UC San Diego Department of Psychiatry and Rady Children’s Hospital -San Diego. She is a published author, and her recent treatment book, “Modular Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depressed Children and Adolescents,” earned widespread positive reviews nationally.
