Overview

Please join us for an informative and exciting three days in beautiful La Jolla, Calif. This year, we are focusing our first day on educating the practitioner in the practical use of pediatric genomic medicine. Our second day will focus on neurodevelopmental pediatric genomics, and our third day will include discussions on pediatric genomics in oncology and cardiology, as well as genomics in the newborn period, including the ethical, legal and social implications.

Keynote Speaker

Hans Hilger Roper ImageHans Hilger Ropers, M.D.

Dr. Ropers has recently retired as director at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics (MPIMG) in Berlin, as professor for Human Genetics at the Free University Berlin (1994-2014) and as chairman of the Biomedical Section of the (former Prussian) Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Science (BBAW, 2008-2014). As a physician and first-generation board-certified clinical geneticist, he has a long-standing interest in the molecular elucidation, diagnosis and prevention of genetic disorders. Dr. Ropers and his coworkers were among the first to successfully employ positional cloning strategies for identifying the molecular causes of Mendelian disorders, with a focus on blindness, deafness and mental retardation.
