Dr. Tantisira has over 32 years of experience practicing medicine and comes to Rady Children's from the Brigham and Women's Hospital. His primary research focus is on the factors influencing asthma susceptibility, severity, prognosis and treatment response, with particular interests in asthma pharmacogenomics, translational genomics, and personalized, prognostic medicine. He has directed seminal studies in respiratory epidemiology, genomics and pharmacogenomics, as well as the fetal genomic origins of lung disease.
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Tantisira completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the LA County/University of Southern California Medical Center.
