Dr. Tantisira is chief of the Division of Pulmonology at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and a professor of pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
Board certified in pulmonary disease and internal medicine, Dr. Tantisira has over 32 years of experience in the medical field and previously worked at Brigham and Women's Hospital. His primary focus is the factors influencing asthma susceptibility, severity, prognosis and treatment response, with particular interests in asthma pharmacogenomics, translational genomics and personalized, prognostic medicine. He has directed seminal studies in respiratory epidemiology, genomics and pharmacogenomics, as well as in the fetal genomic origins of lung disease.
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Tantisira completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Southern California Medical Center. He then completed several fellowships in pediatric pulmonology at Massachusetts General Hospital and in pulmonary and critical care medicine through a Harvard Combined Fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
