COVID-19 Updates: Latest Information for Parents

Patients / Visitors

COVID-19 Visitor Guidelines (effective 4/7/20)

**Visitors and patients coming to the Hospital or clinics need to wear their own face coverings, as our supplies of donated masks to hand out are limited. Please wear the face coverings you are required to wear when you are out in the community.**

Your child may be asked to wear a mask while checking in at the Hospital or going to a clinic. See Flier.

Ensuring patients are cared for in a safe and healthy environment is our highest priority. To continuously ensure a healthy and safe environment for patients and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, visitation is restricted at Rady Children’s Hospital and all other Rady Children’s locations until further notice. In order to limit exposure and reduce infection risk, you are encouraged to utilize social media (Facetime, chat, etc.) to communicate with patients.

All visitors must be symptom-free of any signs of illness.

Inpatient units and surgical procedures
Patients are limited to having no more than one parent/guardian with them:
• During an inpatient unit visit
• During their surgical appointment, from check in to check out.

Clinic and diagnostic appointments

Helen Bernardy Center

Additional information for visitors:

Screenings

All visitors will be subject to an active screening for risk factors of COVID-19. Temperatures will be checked. Visitors should be prepared to answer questions about their recent travel history. Visitors showing signs of respiratory illness, such as cough, fever, or difficulty breathing/shortness of breath will be asked to go home.

Visiting hours

Visiting hours may change as this situation develops. Please call the Hospital to confirm visiting hours before you come to the Hospital.

Restricting visitors is a critically important way to limit the spread of COVID-19 to you, your loved ones and the community. We know that visitors and loved ones play an essential role as partners in healing and wellness. That’s why this visitation policy will be reevaluated daily and removed as soon as conditions allow. We deeply regret any inconvenience it may cause.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping our patients and staff safe.

Our Priority is Your Child

Whether your child is coming to us for a routine checkup, a surgical procedure, a hospital stay or emergency care, we strive to make you and your child feel safe, comfortable and part of our healthcare team. This section of our site provides the information you need to help you and your child have a positive experience.
