Prior to joining Rady Children’s, Dr. Ganta completed his fellowship training in pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. Along with congenital cardiac surgery, his specialty interests include heart and lung transplantation, coronary artery surgery, valve surgery, adult cardiac surgery and electrophysiology/pacemakers.

Dr. Ganta earned his undergraduate degree in honors in biochemistry and his medical degree at the University of Alberta with special training in research distinction. He then completed a six-year integrated residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the Mazankowski Heart Institute and Stollery Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Ganta’s research interests include heart and lung transplantation, mechanical cardiac assist devices, tetralogy of Fallot, Kawasaki disease, adult cardiac surgery, single ventricle palliation and numerous other adult and congenital cardiac surgery topics. He has presented at international conferences and has been invited to present at the American Association of Thoracic Surgery and Western Thoracic Surgery Association conferences.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Ganta enjoys staying active, traveling, listening to live music and spending time with his niece and baby nephew.
