Vincent Wang, MD, MHA, is the Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) at Rady Children’s Hospital and a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Wang also serves as Vice Chair, Education for the Department of Pediatrics.
Dr. Wang grew up in the Los Angeles area. He graduated from Boston University School of Medicine and completed his residency training at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). He completed his PEM fellowship at Children's Hospital Boston, where he served as Chief Fellow his senior year. Dr. Wang returned to CHLA and served as Fellowship Director (2000-2006) and Associate Division Head (2006-2018). He served as Division Chief at University of Texas Southwestern and Director of Emergency Services at Children’s Health in Dallas from 2018 to 2024. He became Chief of PEM at Rady Children’s Hospital in 2024.
He was lead editor for several editions of the PEM Question Review Book and Co-Editor-in-Chief for the Fleisher and Ludwig 5-Minute PEM Consult. The most recent edition of this last textbook was published in 2024. His research interests have been in infectious diseases and respiratory illnesses. Dr. Wang also completed a Master of Health Administration at the University of Southern California in 2010.
