Transport in an anaerobic environment: slant; plate, or swab. Collect swab specimen using an Amies gel transport swab, Amies liquid elution swab (Eswab), or equivalent. Isolate identification must be supplied with the request.

Isolate in Thioglycollate broth; Aerobic slant, plate or swab; Frozen isolates (unless <70 C in Glycerol broth)
