Indicate type of body fluid on specimen. Transport to lab promptly in a sterile container. Synovial fluid should be transferred to a Lavender (EDTA) tube immediately following aspiration.

Bypass specimen receiving and deliver directly to Hematology promptly for CLS to perform assessment and receive orders in Epic.
Included Tests
Cell count and WBC differential if WBC is greater than (>) 10.
Comments
Note: Bronchial lavage is not a valid specimen source for body fluid cell count. For BAL specimens, a Cytology order needs to be placed by provider.
