Rejection Criteria

Lipemic or grossly hemolyzed specimens; Specimens containing particulate matter or exhibiting obvious microbial contamination; Specimens that have been improperly collected, stored, or transported; Specimens that have been stabilized with azide; Specimens that have been heat-inactivated; Specimens exposed to repeated freeze-thaw cycles; Specimens that have not been centrifuged within 2 hours of collection; Unlabeled or mislabeled specimens

Processing Instructions

Blood specimens collected in Plasma Separator Tubes (PSTs) must be centrifuged within 2 hours of the collection time for optimal sample integrity. Complete a UCSD Clinical Laboratory requisition and submit with specimen refrigerated. Call a RUSH pick-up with TForce.
