Collection Information

Specimen Required

2-4 mL Blood

Container Type

Red Top (No Additive)

Collection Instructions

1-2 mL CSF collected in a sterile container is also acceptable.

Processing Information - Lab Use Only

Transport Temperature

Frozen-Only

Specimen Stability

Room Temp: 2-3 Hours; Refrigerated: 48 Hours; Frozen: 2 Months

Rejection Criteria

Sample collected in serum separator tube (SST); Gross Hemolysis

Test Volume Required

1 mL Serum or CSF

Minimum Test Volume

0.3 mL Serum or CSF

Processing Instructions

Immediately freeze the serum after processing (preferred storage at −80 °C; −20 °C acceptable if necessary). Avoid prolonged room-temperature storage due to risk of dalbavancin loss from adsorption to plastic surfaces potentially resulting in falsely decreased concentrations, in addition to the standard guidance for rapid freezing to minimize thermal degradation of all target substances in biological samples. Complete an ADL requisition and submit with specimen frozen Monday-Friday, no weekends or holidays. Indicate source in comments, on specimen and on requisition.
