Forms should accompany specimen to the lab already filled out. Collect blood between 10 weeks-13 weeks 6 Days of pregnancy.

Processing Instructions

Specimen should accompany form already filled out and instruction sheet with Business Reply Label. Shipping supplies are located in the cupboard above the send out computer. First Trimester specimens must be cnetrifuged before sending. Gently invert tube 5 times to mix clot activator with blood. Let whole blood stand 1/2-1 hour before centrifuging. Centrifuge at full speed (between 1100 and 1300 g) for 10-15 minutes or until the barrier forms with clear serum above gel. Place tube in the blue plastic tray. Place plastic tray in the absorbent puch, Seal the pouch. Do not putthe form in the pouch with the specimen. Place pouch, white copy of the completed form and a copy of the patient's insurance in the red mailing box. Close the ends of the mailing box and insert the lock tabs. Tape is not necessary. Remove the Business Reply Label from the top of the instruction page, and put it on the red box.
