Plasma collected in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube is also acceptable but only stable up to 24 Hours from collection and cannot be used for CMV or EBV Reflex testing. For Emergency Room patients, collect plasma in an EDTA lavender-top tube for faster processing. For possible negative Mono results, collect an extra serum separator tube (SST) or red-top tube for EBV or CMV Reflex testing.
