Collection Instructions

Collection tube can be obtained from the main lab at x225413. Collection tubes are located in the referral testing cupboard (check expiration before sending). Complete a Mayo Biochemical Genetics Patient Info form to submit with sample to lab. For optimal isolation of leukocytes, it is recommended the specimen arrive refrigerated within 7 days of collection to be stabilized. Collect specimen Monday through Thursday only and not the day before a holiday. Specimen should be collected and packaged as close to shipping time as possible. Mix by inversion 6 to 8 times.

Processing Instructions

For optimal isolation of leukocytes, it is recommended the specimen arrive refrigerated within 7 days of collection to be stabilized. Collect specimen Monday through Thursday only and not the day before a holiday. Centrifuge at 1800xg for 30 minutes within 2 hours of collection. Do not aliquot plasma. Order in Mayolink and send completed Mayo Biochemical Genetics Patient Info form and specimen with Mayo courier Monday-Thursday only.
