4-6 mL Blood in a (red-top) ***and*** 4-6 mL Whole Blood in an EDTA (lavender-top). A University of Iowa Kidney Testing requisition must be completed by the physician and sent to lab with specimens.

3 mL Serum ***and*** 3 mL EDTA Plasma

Processing Instructions

Serum and EDTA Plasma: Centrifuge and separate serum and plasma into 4 cryovials each and freeze immediately. Indicate source of blood on each tube. Submit the completed University of Iowa Kidney Testing requisition with specimens frozen. Ship Monday-Thursday ONLY, no weekends or holidays.

18 Tests: C3, C3c, C4, C5, FD, FB, Ba, Bb, Properdin, Soluble C5b-9 (sCSb-9), FI and FH levels, CH50, APFA, FHAA, FBAA, C3b Deposition, Fluid Phase Activity-IFE) Note: ADAMTS-13 activity is no longer included in the panel and must be requested separately if needed (See separate test in LTD for specimen requirement).
