Genomic sequencing led to treatment that dramatically reduced Savannah’s seizures. Yukon, a seizure response dog, is trained to assist her when she has one. Read her remarkable story.

Our young patients inspire us each and every day. When faced with a chronic illness, they show courage. When battling a life-threatening disease, they call upon their strength. When there are setbacks, they show resilience. And through it all — and despite the many challenges — they never give up hope.

Here, we are proud to share stories of these amazing kids and their life-changing care at Rady Children’s.

The stories were originally published in The San Diego Union-Tribune Kids’ NewsDay, a special edition of The San Diego Union-Tribune. Every dollar raised from the sale of Kids’ NewsDay provides funding that has a direct impact on patient care and community education. Kids’ NewsDay is made possible through a partnership among The San Diego Union-Tribune, NBC 7 San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary.
