Dr. Aliya Frederick is a child neurologist at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and an assistant clinical professor of neurosciences and pediatrics at UC San Diego.

Her interests include clinical neurophysiology, headache medicine and non-invasive neuromodulatory technologies.

Dr. Frederick grew up in Cheltenham, Penn., and completed her undergraduate studies in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where she participated in the Meyerhoff Scholarship Program. She matriculated into the Medical Scientist Training Program at Vanderbilt University, where she completed her medical training and a doctorate in neuroscience. During that time, Dr. Frederick received an National Institutes of Health National Research Service Award Fellowship to support her research.

She completed her residency training in child neurology at UC San Diego and Rady Children's Hospital, followed by fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology. Dr. Frederick is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology with special qualification in child neurology.

Dr. Frederick is a member of the Child Neurology Society, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society and the American Headache Society.

Additionally, she is a member of the UC San Diego Health Sciences Task Force on Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and serves as an associate editor in epilepsy on the editorial board for Child Neurology Open.
