Bio

Dr. Gordon is an interventional cardiologist at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and an associate physician at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. Prior to coming to Rady Children's Hospital/UCSD in 2022, he directed the Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital. He previously served as co-Director of the Loma Linda Congenital Cardiology Heart Center and is board-certified in Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

Dr. Gordon routinely performs interventional procedures such as balloon valvuloplasty, balloon angioplasty and stent placement to treat narrowing in a variety of blood vessels, transcatheter valve implantation, occlusion of vascular anomalies, device closure of atrial and ventricular septal defects, and device closure of ductus arteriosus.

Dr. Gordon was a founder and president of the pediatric/congenital interventional cardiology early-career society (PICES group). The PICES group, a sub-committee of the Congenital Heart Disease Council of SCAI, was created to support and advance the careers of young interventionalists in the fields of pediatric/congenital heart disease. He further honed his leadership skills via participation as the only pediatric/congenital early career fellow in the Emerging Leadership Mentorship Program (ELM) from 2017-2019. This competitive national program (sponsored by ACC, SCAI, and CRF) selects 12 physician leaders from interventional cardiology and provides career and professional development, mentoring, group training, and professional coaching for early career interventionalists.

Dr. Gordon is actively involved in cardiovascular research and has published almost 40 peer-reviewed articles in addition to a book chapter. He has lectured at national and international conferences and works closely with trainees in the catheterization laboratory. His primary research interests include novel transcatheter device therapies, interventional cardiac MRI, quality improvement in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, and outcomes in congenital heart disease.

Dr. Gordon is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and the Pediatric Interventional Cardiology Society. He is current a member of the SCAI Publications committee, serves as reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals, and is an active member of the SCAI Congenital Heart Disease council.
