Ekta Patel, M.D.

Bio

Dr. Ekta Patel is a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and as assistant professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine in the department of psychiatry. She teaches psychiatry residents from UC San Diego and the Navy, in addition to UC San Diego medical students.

Dr. Patel received her undergraduate degree in psychology at New York University. She completed her medical training at St. George's University and her general psychiatry residency at Northwell Health - Zucker Hillside Hospital in New York. She then completed her two year child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at New York University.

She has a special interest in emergency psychiatry and management of acutely ill children, as well as collaborative care with primary care pediatrics. She is also interested in medical education and quality improvement. Dr. Patel has engaged in various projects and curriculum development focused on educating residents and fellows about quality improvement and patient safety. She is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
