After graduating from The Bishop's School in La Jolla, Dr. Kaufman attended Yale University, where she was captain of the women's tennis team. Dr. Kaufman played tennis professionally on the WTA/ITF circuit after college before attending the University of Rochester School of Medicine. She completed her emergency medicine residency at Stanford followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Georgetown University in Washington, DC before returning to San Diego. 

Dr. Kaufman treats sports injuries in children and young adults, with a special interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound. 

When not working, Dr. Kaufman enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her husband and three young children.
