1-25 mL Urine and if possible 1-2 mL Blood collected in (red-top) tube

Collection Instructions

If possible collect Urine ***and*** 0.5-1 mL Serum. Urine is analyzed for all patients-if urine shows evidence of a metabolic abnormality, Serum will be tested. Please note if patient is currently on URSO or Actigall, and if the pateint has been ill within the past month, give specific dates if possible. It is recommended that patients be off these two drugs for at least 5 days before specimen collection. Also provide brief clinical history and preliminary diagnosis. Processing Instructions

If possible send Urine ***and*** 0.5-1 mL Serum. Urine is analyzed for all patients-if urine shows evidence of a metabolic abnormality, Serum will be tested. Complete the Cincinnati Children's Bile Acid by Mass Spectrometry requisition including the List of Medications section and submit with specimen(s) frozen. Ship Monday-Thursday Only, no weekends or holidays. If collected on a Friday, weekend or holiday, (Note: Clinical History and physician's signature is not required).
