If fasting collection is indicated, patient must be fasting at least 8 hours prior to collection. Serum collected in a serum separate tube (SST) or (red-top tube is also acceptable. If an off-site collection is being performed, collect blood in a potassium oxalate (gray-top) tube (for glucose only) along with the PTS, SST or red-top tube.
