Collection Instructions

Sample must be refrigerated within 1 Hour of collection. Specimen must arrive at UCSD Biochemical Genetics/Cystine Determination Lab for processing within 36 hours of collection. Please collect and send specimen Monday-Friday before 1200 ONLY. UCSD Biochemical Genetics/CDL are closed on the weekends and holidays. After specimen is collected submit to laboratory immediately.

Processing Instructions

Specimen must be refrigerated within 1 Hour of collection. Specimen must arrive at UCSD Biochemical Genetics/Cystine Determination Lab for processing within 36 hours of collection. Please collect and transport Monday-Friday before 1200 ONLY. UCSD Biochemical Genetics/CDL are closed on the weekends and holidays. Place sample in a Styrofoam mailer or wrap with other absorbent material and place sample into biohazard bag and seal. Place completed UCSD Biochemical Genetics requisition into outer pouch of biohazard bag. IMPORTANT: Must use completely frozen gel packs or wet ice (preferred) to ensure sample stays at refrigerated temperature for transport. DO NOT FREEZE BLOOD. Call TForce courier for pick up if route courier has already picked up for the day. UCSD Biochemical Genetics business hours: Monday-Friday 0800-1630. If a late deliver is required, please contact UCSD (619) 543-5260 so they are aware to expect sample.
