Body Fluid (Spinal, Pleural, Peritoneal, Ascites, Pericardial or Ocular): 0.3-0.5 mL collected in a sterile container. Respiratory (Bronchial washing, Bronchoalveolar lavage, Nasopharyngeal aspirate/washing, Sputum or Tracheal aspirate): 1-1.5 mL collected in a sterile container. Genital CultureSwab (Cervix, Vagina, Urethra, Anal/Rectal, other genital sources): placed back into swab cylinder. Miscellaneous CultureSwab (Dermal, Eye, Nasal, Saliva or Throat): placed back into swab cylinder. Fresh Tissue (Brain, Colon, Kidney, Liver, Lung, etc.): in a sterile container with 1-2 mL of sterile saline or multi-microbe medium (M5). Random Urine: 0.3-1 mL collected in a sterile container. Bone marrow: 0.5 mL collected in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube.
