MTHFR testing no longer clinically relevant to Thrombophilia diagnosis. Refer ordering physicians to ACMG website for this test. www.acmg.net/docs/MTHFR_gim2012165a_Feb2013.pdf. If physician still wishes to order, refer them to Pathology. MTHFR Mutation may occasionally be ordered for other reasons, in which case order Quest test 17911. Whole blood collected in an EDTA (royal blue-top), sodium heparin (green-top), lithium heparin (green-top), ACD solution A/B (yellow-top) tube is also acceptable.
