Collection Instructions

DRAW 2.7 MLS OF WHOLE BLOOD INTO TWO (2) 2.7 ML LIGHT BLUE-TOP TUBES USING VACUTAINER METHOD AND 21 GAUGE NEEDLE. NOTE: Each vacutainer tube must be filled to the line indicated on the tube (2.7 mLs). The proper ratio of blood to anticoagulant must be maintained to ensure reliability of test results. FOR DIFFICULT DRAWS (I.E. BABIES, POOR VEINS) A BUTTERFLY MAY BE USED. YOU MUST RECORD ON THE COLLECTION LABEL THAT A BUTTERFLY WAS USED FOR COLLECTION. SPECIMEN MUST BE DELIVERED TO LAB BY HAND, DO NOT SEND VIA PNEUMATIC TUBE SYSTEM.

Included Tests

We do Platelet AGG, EPI (Plt Aggregation by Epinephrine) first. If normal, test completes. If abnormal, then we will add Platelet AGG, ADP (Plt Aggregation by Adeninediphos...). If reflex test is done, there will be an additional charge. This is a replacement test for Bleeding Time (BT).
