Dear Intersex Community,
At Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, we recognize that intersex individuals and their loved ones face many complexities and challenges in the health care environment. We understand that intersex can be difficult to define for individuals and can cause a great deal of emotional and physical distress. We’ve learned a lot from the last several years and are committed to taking all factors that affect the health and well-being of our patients, their future, and their families into full account.
Rady Children’s supports those who identify as intersex and ensures that they have access to comprehensive, compassionate and highly informed care in a safe and inclusive space. We continue to accomplish this by:
- Having ongoing conversations with health care and advocacy experts, both within our institution and throughout the community.
- Advancing our dedicated team of bioethicists, endocrinologists, urologists and geneticists through regular meetings and multidisciplinary collaboration on patient cases.
