Overview

Rady Children’s Behavioral Health Urgent Care serves youth ages 5-21 struggling with concerns that pose an imminent risk to their safety, the safety of others, or significantly impair their daily lives.

We see youth experiencing the following concerns:

  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Homicidal thoughts
  • Intentional self-harm (cutting, burning, etc.)
  • Psychotic thinking
  • Severe depression and/or anxiety

Services

  • Safety assessments by a clinical social worker during walk-in hours (4pm – 8pm, Monday – Friday)
    • If a youth is determined to need psychiatric hospitalization, staff will facilitate transportation to an emergency department or psychiatric hospital.
    • Psychiatry and medication services are NOT available during walk-in hours.
  • Short-term return visits and medication services may be available after an initial safety assessment by a clinician during walk-in hours. These appointments are four to six sessions and offered on a case-by-case basis. For these short-term visits, Medi-Cal and some private insurance plans are accepted.
  • We offer translation services in over 150 languages and dialects.
